Welcome to a chronological record of past events at Mountain View Yacht Club.

It has been fun to slowly build this site with input from many members and renters while also learning the history of MVYC.

It is amazing to see what has transpired in just twenty six (26) years from 1985 to 2011. The change in docks, boats, landscape, buildings, members, and renters. The replacement of dock walls, infrastructure, and services in just the last decade has been remarkable. A great deal has been accomplished by many people in a short time to protect the investment of members and to ensure summer usage by all members.

Enjoy looking at the history and what is current that will become history in only a year. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a present.

October 6

Board of Directors meeting to discuss and resolve failure to 300 feet of bulkhead between C and E docks, collapse of the adjacent parking lot, and the electrical infrastructure at the club which was failing.

December 31

Special assessment of $200.00 per slip collected for C to E wall replacement & parking lot.

In order to rebuild the reserve fund and begin work on the electrical system the Board of Directors approved an increase in annual club dues effective January 1, 2002.

It was not an easy decision for the board to vote on a special assessment and dues increase as they are also members and owners. It is however the responsibility of the board to maintain and protect the investment of every member at the club.

We had an overnight visitor on the A Dock beach that had engine trouble. They did anchor their craft securely.

The new visitors dock after the original visitors dock suddenly fell in the channel.

J Dock wall was replaced at the same time as the Visitors Dock with all new water and electrical services.

Parking was no longer allowed between the docks to negate the possibility of future damage to the walls.

Parking was increased by the removal of the MVYC maintenance boat slip between the gas dock and visitors dock.

June - New children's swing set is completed by Scott Gleason of A20 through donations from club members and renters

July - MVYC sign gets refurbished

July - Valet wall walkway and pedestals are installed.

September - Lights, rope fence, and water access for spring launching.

October - Completion of launch well approach and paving from the boat storage area.

June 17, 2006 Clydesdales Visit MVYC

Most of the revelers still had a good time !!!!

The A & B roadway sandstorms on windy days plus cars driving too fast along A & B roadways raised a lot of dust. The board voted to get the roadway fixed this summer with as much volunteer work as possible. Through the efforts of Bill Andrews (A18) and many hours of his coordination the roadways have new larger stone that will keep the dust storms to a bare minimum.

Volunteers Included:

Dave Johnson (A9) volunteered the use of his paving equipment and crew for one day to lay the stone down.

A relatively quiet summer by past standards. Many boats were not even put in the water this year and gas prices were well over $3.00 per gallon.

January 1st 2008 the annual dues were increased  to $1500 per year per slip.

The annual dues have only risen $850 since 1992, 16 years.

New Patios installed for D, E, F, & G Docks

Thanks to everyone that participated in the workdays on April 17 and April 24, 2010. A lot was accomplished by a small group of hard working members and renters. Not pictured were Tom Dollard, Dick Burpee, John LaPlante, Jack Ford, John DeGroot, and our supporters rooting us on.
